Rapidomatic Drafting Pencil
Koh-I-Noor Rapidomatic is a classic design, popular for many years among commercial artists and architects, packed with pro features and built to last. Sadly, for a while, it seemed that this excellent pencil was a casualty of the decline of analog drafting. Many of the tools used by 20th century designers are no longer manufactured, and many of the historic companies dedicated to those supplies have vanished entirely. Rapidomatic pencils were just one of many products discontinued in the last several decades.
But now, mechanical pencils are gaining new popularity in the United States, and midcentury design is very much on-trend, so Koh-I-Noor USA has decided to bring back the Rapidomatic as part of their standard lineup. We're so glad they did. It's a balanced, tip-weighted drafting pencil with metal hardware, a sturdy lead sleeve, a hardness indicator, a metal clip, and an eraser under the cap.
Rest assured, the new Rapidomatics have old-school build quality. These feel much nicer in the hand than their sub-$15 price. The knurled grip has a nice weight and texture, and all the moving parts travel smoothly.

How quickly will my order ship?
Our St. Louis warehouse team is pretty speedy! We generally ship orders within one business day of receiving them. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order's packed and out the door.
How long will it take to arrive?
We offer shipping estimates for each order at checkout. Please note that these are only our system's best guess — there are many factors that may affect shipping time.
Generally speaking, our parcels take about 2-3 business days to travel to most U.S. addresses once they are shipped.
In a hurry? We offer expedited shipping options, including overnight shipping, at checkout.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We never guarantee delivery dates because carrier delays are not within our control. We do not issue refunds due to delays in transit.
Do you accept returns?
Yes — we accept returns of unopened, undamaged items within 30 days of receipt.
If your return is because we made a mistake, we'll pay for the return shipping label. If you're returning an item because you changed your mind, return shipping is at your expense.
