Grumbacher Resist Sticks, Set of 2
Made from soft, non-toxic wax, Grumbacher Resist Sticks are a really simple masking tool for watercolor, ink, and mixed media art. Watercolor and other water-based media don't stick to wax, so just draw with a Resist Stick in the areas where you don't want paint. Then paint over it—you'll see that the hydrophobic wax repels watercolor.
Resist Sticks are crystal-clear and non-yellowing. You can even use them on top of dry watercolor for complex layering effects.
A few tips for using Resist Sticks:
MORE WATER IS BETTER. Thicker paint tends to sit on top of waxy areas, rather than beading up and moving away from the mask. So when using Resist Sticks, make sure you dilute your watercolor enough to allow it to flow freely.
SURFACE TEXTURE COUNTS. Use Resist Sticks on cold press (textured) watercolor paper for natural-looking, dappled effects. Use them on hot press (smooth) paper for more uniform masking.
SHAPE IT! These soft sticks can be cut with a knife, sculpted with warm hands, or sharpened against rough paper. Experiment with different shapes to see what works best for you.

How quickly will my order ship?
Our St. Louis warehouse team is pretty speedy! We generally ship orders within one business day of receiving them. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order's packed and out the door.
How long will it take to arrive?
We offer shipping estimates for each order at checkout. Please note that these are only our system's best guess — there are many factors that may affect shipping time.
Generally speaking, our parcels take about 2-3 business days to travel to most U.S. addresses once they are shipped.
In a hurry? We offer expedited shipping options, including overnight shipping, at checkout.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We never guarantee delivery dates because carrier delays are not within our control. We do not issue refunds due to delays in transit.
Do you accept returns?
Yes — we accept returns of unopened, undamaged items within 30 days of receipt.
